This is so hysterical. Thanks to [info]andreal!!

1. http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Special:Random
The first article title on the page is the name of your band.

2. http://www.quotationspage.com/random.php3
The last four words of the very last quote is the title of your album.

3. http://www.flickr.com/explore/interesting/7days/
The third picture, no matter what it is, will be your album cover.

4.Use your graphics program of choice to throw them together, and post the result:

It's amazing how motivating Smarties can be -- at least when you are denied them until you name their colour.

(Amusing myself terribly with overwrought subject line)

Okay, so I feel like everyone on the internet must have heard of this, it's so cool. But it was new to me. DailyLit is a service that sends books in e-mail sized chunks to your chosen address. I read a tonne, and I read quickly, but most of it is online; I am constantly connected and I so rarely get a chance to just settle in with a book. This is ideal for me.

Many of the titles are entirely free and I am finally reading classics I've meant to read forever. If you get to the bottom of a chunk and have the time to keep going, just click a link and get the next bit. Brilliant.

Highly recommended!

Too new behaviours from my two-year old son yesterday.

  1. He tore the dustcover on a book quite deliberately, and on being scolded, rubbed his eye and croaked, "m'sohee." He then burst into tears when I hugged him and told him he was a good boy for saying that. I credit daycare. Was a real heart-melter.
  2. He ran up behind me and grabby-grabbed my legs and yelled, "tikoo tikoo!" He was too shy to repeat the same thing on daddy, or he was annoyed we had blown his stealth by inviting him to do so.
It's turkey day in Canada. Happy Thanksgiving, Canucks! My bird is merrily roasting and I'm going to go wake my little boy for a bath. Thanksgiving indeed.

Okay, trying to keep that artbug going. Also trying to challenge myself to a couple of things I rarely do: men, and action poses. So this is the result of 30 minutes' scribbling.

Note:
1. The inspiration for this was probably Gerard Butler in 300. If he hadn't been waxed to a perfect sheen.
2. There is no visible peen.
3. It was, however, a gesture study of a sort of gladiator scenario, so the "clothes" are a speedo-sized afterthought.
4. See also the bit about Gerard being the inspiration. Mmmn Gerard in not much in the way of clothes mmmmn.

The poor little goblin thing. )

Okay, he isn't nearly beefy enough to be Gerard, but I haven't ever gone for the ultra-thick types, anyway. I still say he looks like he can wield a decent whomp.

One of my old Threadless submissions, but I still like it. You know how sometimes you get birthday presents and you can tell the person got the present for the person they wish you were and not the person you actually are? And seeing this gift for a fantasy version of yourself kind of makes you nauseous, and you have to fight past the sick to act grateful and nice even though the gesture is a profoundly selfish one on the part of the gifter?

Yeah, like that. )

Subject:Two of Cups
Security:Public

(Inspired by a recent [info]kino_kid  post, and nonspecific mental meanderings thereafter.)

Everyone goes through life holding their own cup. Your cup is full of water, and you hold it carefully. But as you walk, water naturally splashes out, and you need to refill the vessel. You pass different fountains, some which pour, some which trickle, some that -- depending on the person -- don't run at all. They represent work, family, hobbies, spirit, friendship. You pour into the fountains, you take from the fountains, contributing to these communal sources of water.

Sometimes you walk together for good way with someone else. This person is the person with whom you exchange water -- one on one. They're eager to top you up from their own stores, even when they're running low. Sometimes, when you're tired, they even hold your cup for a while.

But... what if one of the cups has a leak?

If a cup is leaking, it can be filled and filled and it'll never stay full. It'll always be at crisis, nearly empty, and both partners will be exhausted from the effort of stopping it running dry.

And of course, though your partner can hold your cup for a little while, though they can walk with you in company, and share their water, they can't fix your cup. Only you can.

Two of Cups - Rider Waite )

It was a big thumping metaphor in my head, so sorry for the obviousness. It's held true in my life for sure. My agoraphobia is mine to deal with -- I can't make anyone else manage it or make them responsible for healing me.

Sometimes, though, he holds my cup...
